Hi! I’m Tara, and I’m your FitFoodieMommy!
I am so happy to have you here in my little world! My goal is to inspire women to lead a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life. I’m a CERTIFIED INTEGRATIVE NUTRITION HEALTH COACH with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and on a mission to empower people to thrive and live a more holistic lifestyle.
I love fitness, food and motherhood (as you probably have already guessed!). I’ve always wanted to share my own health journey to the world and create a ripple effect.
I’m a self-taught ‘healthy home-chef’ and never had any formal culinary training. I used to watch those cooking shows in Food Network and then try to recreate their dishes with a personal spin to it. I find joy and a different kind of peace every time I’m in my kitchen, creating something delicious and healthy dishes for me and my boys.
I also had my share of fitness struggles from teenage years through post-partum. So yeah I’m familiar of that ‘I want to eat or live healthy but everything I do seems futile’ kind of feeling. But there really is a WAY…a way to incorporate fitness and healthy living even as a busy career woman or a multi-tasking parent. And my goal is to guide and mentor other moms to find that ONE approach which works for them. One that enables them to take charge of their health, their career, their aspirations, while still juggling motherhood and gazillion other priorities.
I lost my dad to cancer several years ago, so I really do take health S E R I O U S L Y. It’s a cliché to say that health is everything, but it really is. And it has been my battlecry to educate people to approach health holistically, thru proper NUTRITION, adequate EXERCISE, and a more POSITIVE, LESS-STRESSFUL LIFESTYLE.
What you will find here in my site are reflections of my love for my craft—my most enjoyed everyday recipes, my fitness journey, and my thoughts as a learning ‘mompreneur’ (mom + wellness entrepreneur) and a lifestyle/business mentor. I hope that while being on my site, it will spark something inside of you and let you realize a thing or two that will spur you into action.
Enjoy your time here as I sure have thoroughly enjoyed creating every little detail in here for you!
A little more you should know about me….
I’m really just one of your ordinary moms. I’m originally from the beautiful, tropical country Philippines where I finished my degree in Psychology and graduated top of my class. I moved to Singapore when my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 bone cancer, in the hopes of finding a higher-paying job. It was tough having to live away from my family but I had to, in order to support my dad’s treatment. He passed away in 2010 after a long & painful battle. And from there on, I vowed to myself that never will my family (or other people) have to go thru that gruesome journey ever again. HOLISTIC HEALTHY LIVING became my advocacy.
My professional background is in Human Resource and I have more than a decade of corporate experience as a learning & development manager with blue-chip companies including one of the Big Four professional services firm. My career took me to places around the world and I enjoyed meeting people from different backgrounds.
My travel escapades are probably what led me to appreciate food culture. I loved my profession as a corporate executive, helping people become the best version of themselves. I’ve always believed that my calling is to teach, educate, and inspire.
I was at the peak of my career when MOTHERHOOD came, and it totally changed my game. I loved my job, but I loved being a MOM more.. and I felt I was TIME-POOR. I remember feeling so torn when I had to go for a business trip and leave my then 6 month old son. Every time I’m travelling, my thoughts were on my little boy. I was pumping milk in-between meetings and wanting to continue my breastfeeding journey even as a working & travelling mom. That’s how much I love motherhood.
And I thought then there has got to be a way where I can enjoy being a mom, while still build a career that does not compromise my time with my son.
An opportunity came through my best friend who introduced me to the world of online wellness profession. Not only did it give me the opportunity to advocate for health, and find an additional stream of income but it also paved the way for me to consider being a work-at-home mom, leave my corporate job, and start to build my online empire.
I was scared of course of not having a full-time salaried job but a big part of me wanted to do this not just for myself, but for my little boy especially.
Then we had to relocate to Australia in late 2016. All the more it gave me enough reason to be a stay-at-home mom while settling into a new place and look after my then two year old son. My online business was continuing to thrive but I felt there was something missing. Remember I told you that I’ve always loved food and cooking right? So I then thought of starting my Facebook page where I can share daily inspiration on food, fitness, health and motherhood to my fellow moms and other followers. The dots connected! And that’s when the Fit Foodie Mommy name was born.
Now I reside in Melbourne with my husband and growing boy. I’m a stay-at-home mom entrepreneur while I lead my global TEAM THRIVE, a team of successful women wellness entrepreneurs all around the world, who also want to take on the same journey to live a healthier, happier, and more purpose-driven life.
My philosophy has always been about BALANCE. Even when it comes to food, you’ll find that my recipes here have a little of everything—from meaty to plant-based and even indulgent treats like desserts and chocolates!
Same as in motherhood, fitness or life in general, there’s no one clear-cut solution to finding success, fulfillment and happiness. It’s a little of everything.
My journey has not been all milk and honey for sure! I’ve had my share of struggles and disappointments too, but when we create CONSISTENCY, develop HABITS, and embrace GROWTH, we are brought one step at a time closer to our goal.
That’s it about me! I hope to connect with you here soon. I love to hear from you too. So do reach out, drop me a comment or shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org for feedback and/or suggestions. Thanks for taking time to read!
