These crispy baked tofu is an easy, delicious, vegan recipe which my little boy has come to love. You can make a big batch of the tofu and even play around with different sauces. So far, our favorite is the teriyaki glaze which only needs a few ingredients.
Pair this with brown rice and steamed broccolis for a complete healthylicious meal.
.
INGREDIENTS
1 pack extra firm tofu (silken tofu won’t work with this recipe)
1 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
1 tbsp corn flour or arrowroot starch (for gluten-free)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt & pepper
2-3 tbsps of teriyaki sauce
Sesame seeds
INSTRUCTIONS
Take tofu out of its packaging then place on a plate with tea towel or paper towel underneath. Place another towel over it and a heavy dish or casserole on top. This presses down the tofu and squeezes out all the moisture. Let it sit for 15-20mins.
Once tofu is ready, cut it into small cubes, ideally of the same size. In a bowl, mix all the other ingredients then gently toss the tofu in it.
In a lined baking tray, arrange the tofu on a single layer. Bake at 400deg for 25-30 mins, flipping halfway through.
Once cooked, transfer to a large bowl and toss in your favorite teriayi sauce to coat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Enjoy!
*if not baking it, you can also shallow-fry it on a pan.
