Cauliflower in smoothies, for real? YES!!! Â I have been reading rave reviews about adding this humble vegetable into smoothies for a creamier and richer texture and taste. Â And boy was I impressed with this BERRIES AND CAULIFLOWER SMOOTHIE BOWL! Â You actually won’t taste the cauliflower in it. Â Well, maybe a little but it’s very subtle. Â Adding berries into the mix gives it the sweetness you’ll need plus the loads of antioxidants of course!
I steamed one head of cauliflower (cut into florets first), then froze it in ziploc bags. Â I used the pre-packed mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) from the grocery store since some of these are seasonal here in Melbourne. Â You may also just freeze the fresh fruits if you have. Â Frozen fruits give your smoothies the creamy and thick texture which is perfect for smoothie bowls. Â I then added my vanilla protein powder, and also some chia seeds to make it into a power-boosting breakfast. Â I topped it with fresh strawberries, muesli, and coconut flakes. Â Done in minutes! Â Gone in minutes! Â Doesn’t it look divine? Â Wait til’ you taste it. Â I’m a total cauliflower smoothie convert!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup frozen cauliflower (steamed then frozen)
3/4 cup frozen mixed berries
1 tbsp chia seeds
scoops of high-quality protein powder in vanilla (I use THIS)
toppings of choice
METHOD:
Blend on high in a blender until smooth. Â Top with your favorite fresh fruits, muesli or rolled oats or granola, and some coconut flakes.
If you wish for this to be a smoothie drink, then you may add more milk for a thinner consistency.
XO,
Tara
