Beets Strawberry Smoothie

This BEETS & STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE is one of my favorites since it is packed with a flavorful punch.  It has a very rich, creamy texture that will leave you wanting for more.

Beets is gaining popularity due to its many health benefits.   One of which is helping boost weight loss because of its detoxifying ability with its zero fat and high fiber content.  It can also help boost strength, improve digestive health, lower blood pressure, and even enhance brain health.

I usually buy the pre-packed and pre-cooked beets that are vacuum-sealed in the supermarket.  This doesn’t have any added sugars in it but needs to be consumed in a matter of days.  You may also cook raw beets by boiling them.  Peeling these might get a little messy but you can wear kitchen gloves or wrap the beets in kitchen towel to help you with it.

You may add protein powder if you take this as a meal but otherwise you can skip it and have this as a healthy drink.  Top with your favorite goodies like coconut flakes, seeds, granola or more strawberries.

INGREDIENTS

Makes 1 serving

1/2 cup cooked beets

1/2 cup frozen strawberries

1/2-3/4 cup unsweetened nut milk (almond or cashew milk) – increase to 1 cup if you wish to drink this in a jar or glass instead of as a smoothie bowl

1 tablespoon chia seeds

3 scoops high-quality vanilla protein powder (if using) – I USE THIS

Toppings of choice

6-8 ice cubes

METHOD

Mix everything in a high-speed blender, except the toppings.  Place in a bowl and serve with your favorite toppings.
