Detoxing Smoothie

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s the first day of the year and the perfect time to cleanse and detox from all the holiday eating. Whether you are a newbie or a seasoned detox junkie, a healthy, green smoothie can never go wrong.

This can be ready in less than 5 minutes and you can also add your favorite fruits or vegetables. Remember to always have your #FABFOUR—proteins, fat, fiber, greens to get the most of your smoothie. Keep the sugar low by picking fruits low in sugar such as berries, pears, pitayas, avocados.

When is the best time to have your smoothie? Anytime. But I usually start my morning with a smoothie to balance out my sugar levels and help curb sweet cravings throughout the day. You can also have this smoothie after a workout and just up the protein content.

So shall we have some smoothie?!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup liquid of choice (filtered water, coconut water, or nut milk)
  • half avocado
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3 scoops high-quality protein powder in vanilla (I use THIS ONE)
  • handful fresh spinach
  • 4-5 slices cucumber
  • 4-5 mint leaves
  • ice cubes
  • toppings: fruits, nuts

METHOD

  1. COMBINE all ingredients in a high-speed blender.
  2. BLEND until smooth.
  3. POUR into a bowl. If you want to drink it in a glass, you can add more liquid.
