Hello!

My Top Life Lessons as a Mom

Blog

January 14, 2019

Happy 37th to me! Every time it’s my birthday, it’s a reminder for me to reflect on the year that has been and all that I have learned so far in this crazy, beautiful life. As being a mom has played a huge role in my life, I wanted to share with you the 37 key lessons that I’ve learned so far from my motherhood journey.

Share your own lessons below or tag a mom who needs to be reminded how awesome she is!

1. Raise your child the way you want to. You of all people will know what’s best.
2. Time is the most valuable gift to our kids.
3. Take care of YOU first, so you can take better care of your family.
4. Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s never worth it.
5. Support other moms. We each have our own struggles but we are all in this together.
6. Daily juggle is real! Having a messy house doesn’t mean you’re a bad mom.
7. You are a wife before a mom. Make an effort to have quality time with your partner.
8. Look for a mom tribe who uplifts you. If you don’t have one, create one!
9. Notice every little thing about your child. Their little feet, hands, face, their smell.. tomorrow they will be a little older.
10. Outdoor play helps kids and moms keep their sanity! (Truth!?)

11. Even if you feel like a failure, you are always a hero in your child’s eyes.
12. Love yourself before anyone else. Self-love is never selfish.
13. Give yourself permission to succeed, to go after your dreams. ✨ Motherhood & career isn’t mutually exclusive.
14. Putting a stop to mom-shaming should start from us. Be a mom who empowers other moms.
15. Asking help doesn’t mean you are weak. It means you are brave for trying.
16. Looking after our own health sets an example to our kids. If you don’t want your kids to eat junk, then don’t eat junk too.
17. Savor every moment. Watch your kids play, eat, bathe. Their youth is fleeting.
18. You don’t have to please everyone. It’s okay if others don’t understand your purpose for as long as you do.
19. Family is what truly matters. Collect memories, not stuff.
20. It takes a village to raise a child. Find your support system and be thankful for them.
21. A hug can change everything. Feeling down? Just hug your kids tighter and longer than usual, and it will remind you how blessed you already are.
22. Don’t be too busy to play with your kids. Work can always wait.
23. It is possible to run a household and a business. It is really, really hard, but possible.
24. Self-care is life! Don’t feel guilty about looking after you. You can never serve from an empty cup.

25. Gratitude always changes the way we see motherhood. Find something everyday to be grateful for.

26. Stop comparing yourself to that other mom. Motherhood is not a competition.
27. Embrace your body and the changes that come with bringing a child into this world. You are beautiful no matter what size or shape.
28. Find time for your passion and what you used to enjoy doing before being a mom. Wanting some alone or “me” time doesn’t mean you love your kids less.
29. Each child is different. Intelligence isn’t just about ABCs and 123s. Kids learn differently. Be damn proud for who they are.
30. Our kids watch our every move. They say what we say, and do what we do.
31. No amount of self-help books will prepare you for motherhood. We all just have to wing it every single day!
32. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Learn to laugh on mishaps and mistakes, just let it go!
33. Be kind to other moms, especially to those you don’t know. You never know what they’re going thru and you just might save them.
34. Believe in yourself, no matter what. If not you, who else will?
35. It’s okay to NOT be okay. Motherhood can be frustrating, challenging, and sometimes lonely. Allow yourself to go thru those emotions but don’t get stuck there! Remember lesson #25.
36. Pray. Either when things are going well, or not. Faith can change everything.
37. Be your own kind of bad-ass mom! ? You have one special gift that only you have so go share it with other moms and to the world.✨

I’m no perfect mom but I try to be the best one that I can be for my little boy. And if there’s one thing I could wish for on my birthday, it’s for every mom out there who are rocking it every single day to feel blessed, loved, and cared for no matter what stage in life they are in.

xx,
